Walk with the King today and be a blessing!

by on June 28, 2006. Filed under Christian life / church

God Who said “Let there be light” and Who made His light shine in us also commanded “Be anxious for nothing.” Yet we still so easily consider our human needs first and make mention of them to Him. Clearly stated and often completely disregarded, “Seek first His Kingdom and Righteousness.”

We feel distant or in turmoil. We turn to God and seek Him. He is there. It is an issue of our will - not God’s presence. Will you give God the firstfruits of your day, of your thoughts, of yourself? And then trust Him for “all these things”?

We wake up and think “What do I have to do today” Rather, think “Lord, what do you want me to do today.” Begin each day with obedience, submission, praise.

My fav. Daily devotional begins today, “When God speaks, many of us are like people in a fog…” Hesitant to quote too much, (you can read it for yourself), here is more of what Ozzie says today: “Whenever any duty presents itself, we hear God’s voice as our Lord heard His Father’s voice, and we are ready for it with the total readiness of our love for Him.” We are here to do His will within whatever other “occupations” we have. “Readiness for God means that we are prepared to do the smallest thing or the largest thing— it makes no difference.”

One friend wrote to me this morning, “Today I talked to God and read a devotional on how really we need to ONLY care for our relationship with God and not our usual worldly cares. So I kept speaking to God and seeking God. And my day was wild.” He went on to tell of the amazing and wonderful things God did that day.   “…and all these things will be given to you as well.”

Another friend only blogged, “Crazy day today…God is good.” I couldn’t tell if she meant crazy good or crazy bad.

How we begin each day is important. His mercies are new every morning. Even before the day begins, praise God for the day, and walk close to Him throughout the day–He can be trusted. You will be a blessing and be blessed. And God will be glorified.

There was a great radio devotional by Robert A. Cook that I once listened to. He would end every show with, “Walk with the King today and be a blessing!” I like that. That’s what I’m going to do today. That’s my calling in Christ.
